Pattaya sits about 150 km southeast of Bangkok on the Gulf coast, roughly 120 km from Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airport via Motorway 7. In normal traffic the drive takes around two hours; allow extra during Bangkok rush hour and on holiday weekends.
If you land at BKK and are heading straight to Pattaya, a pre-booked private transfer is usually the least stressful choice β your driver meets you at arrivals and the fare is fixed, so a delayed flight or late arrival doesn't change the price.
Pattaya is about 150 km southeast of central Bangkok, and roughly 120 km from Suvarnabhumi (BKK) airport. By car it is usually a 1h 45m to 2h 30m drive depending on traffic and your start point.
A pre-booked private transfer is typically 1,200β2,000 THB for the whole vehicle. A metered taxi is usually 1,500β2,500 THB plus expressway tolls, with the price negotiated at the rank.
The cheapest options are buses: roughly 120β160 THB from Bangkok city terminals (Ekkamai or Mo Chit), or 130β300 THB on the direct airport bus from Suvarnabhumi. Private transfers cost more but are door-to-door.
Pre-booking fixes the price, guarantees a driver waiting (even if your flight is delayed), and avoids haggling at the taxi rank. Taking a taxi on arrival is possible but the fare is negotiated and tolls are added.
Plan for about 2 hours by car in normal traffic. It can be as quick as 1h 45m off-peak, or longer during Bangkok rush hour or holiday weekends.
